Create an itinerary including Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum
Erected on the spot from which the legendary Vietnamese leader proclaimed the country's independence, Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum serves as the final resting place of the leader's mummified body. Although the beloved "Uncle Ho" wished to be cremated, his followers decided to put his embalmed remains in a glass case. Today, his pale body lies exposed to the views of devoted pilgrims and curious tourists moving slowly in endless rows during most of the year--except for a period when it gets sent to Russia for conservation. The building--inspired by the Lenin's mausoleum in Moscow--was erected in the early 1970s. Inquire about proper etiquette before you enter--keep your hands out of your pockets, do not hold up the line, and don't attempt to take photographs. • Very interesting experience. Good value for money. Wear long pants and tops with covered shoulders. Come at 0700hrs to secure a spot in the mausoleum viewing queue.

  • I did not not only go to the mausoleum, but the grounds gave it a 5 due to historical value. There is a lot of beauty in the grounds.

  • Respectable and peaceful place. Tip: 1. Due to luggage limitations, no food, water, drink, or tumbler No camera is included. Go pro - Do not bring that stuff with you. Otherwise, you must wait 20 minutes in a crowded and chaotic line in hot weather and poor logistical conditions to collect it. Experience: After visiting, I had to wait 15 minutes to take my gopro back, then walk 10 minutes back to the entrance gate to take my tumbler - The officer or local people may not know which gate is open. We hardly understood it closed today. 30 minutes later, I saw they were open for guests. Experience: Check the opening time on Google and be patient to observe what is going on by yourself.
  • Sadly despite researching this attraction on various websites there was no mention of it being closed for maintenance mid June until mid August 2022?. There were at least 4 guards outside the gate but none spoke enough English to inform the large group of tourists outside why they couldn’t go in. After much more googling I came across an article that explained the problem. There should be better signage and updating of the website. I am hoping to save someone else the trouble I had after walking a half hour there in the heat and humidity. I was very disappointed as it was one of the main attractions I wanted to visit in the city.
