Xanthos Antik Kenti
Explore the tombs, temple ruins, and amphitheater of Xanthos Antik Kenti, the former capital city of the Lycian Federation. Dating back to the 8th century BCE, this antique city is known for its violent history. Over time the city recovered and now you can tour its historic streets, temples, and ruins. The city is easily accessible via car, and you'll find restrooms and drinks available near the archeological digs and preserved sites. To learn more about the history behind the ruins, hire one of the English-speaking tour guides that offer their services throughout the area. History tells that around 540 BCE, the people of the city chose to commit mass suicide instead of surrendering to invading Persian forces. The men of the town set fire to the women, children, slaves, and prized possessions at the acropolis before fighting a doomed battle against the Persians. Eventually the town was repopulated, but history repeated itself 500 years later, when in 42 BCE, during the Roman Civil Wars, Brutus attacked the city after the townspeople refused to comply with his demands for soldiers. Absolutely fantastic experience. To walk where the ancients walked and feel the place. The ticket was only 20 TL for this exquisite experience.

I liked that place all lot due to hiking paths you can take. It really hives you correct historic vibe. You feel the atmosphere as you spend more time inside ruins. Its not a quick stop. It will take about 2 hours of you do everything there.
