In September, San Jose is somewhat warmer than Vancouver - with highs of 32°C and lows of 21°C. Wrap up your sightseeing on the 2nd (Sun) early enough to drive to Cartago.

Cartago is a city in Costa Rica, about 25km east of the capital, San José. Kick off your visit on the 3rd (Mon): contemplate the long history of Ruins of Iglesia de Nuestra Senora de la Limpia Concepcion, admire the verdant scenery at Orosi River Valley, then admire the natural beauty at Jardin Botanico Lankester, and finally pause for some serene contemplation at Santuario Nacional Nuestra Senora de Los Angeles.

You can drive from San Jose to Cartago in an hour. Alternatively, you can take a bus; or take a train. In October, plan for daily highs up to 31°C, and evening lows to 21°C. Finish up your sightseeing early on the 3rd (Mon) so you can travel to La Fortuna de San Carlos.
