On the bank of the Mtkvari River and at the foot of Trialeti mountain range, Tbilisi's location has given the city strategic significance since it was founded in the 5th century.Get out of town with these interesting Tbilisi side-trips: Gori (Sergi Makalatia Gori Historical and Ethnographical Museum, Uplistsiche Cave Town, &more), David Gareja Monastery (in Udabno) and Bodbe Monastery of St. Nino (in Signagi). On the 4th (Sun), spend a fun day on foot with Walking tours. On the 5th (Mon), give your taste buds a day to remember with a local gastronomic tour. There's lots more to do: find something for the whole family at Aerial Tramway in Tbilisi, take in the architecture and atmosphere at Svetitskhoveli Cathedral, see Off-Road Tours, and cruise along Rustaveli Avenue.
For more things to do, reviews, traveler tips, and tourist information, go to the Tbilisi road trip planner.
If you are flying in from Lebanon, the closest major aiport is Tbilisi International Airport. Expect a daytime high around 31°C in September, and nighttime lows around 19°C.
