The capital of Lithuania, Vilnius, boasts an impressive medieval quarter--one of the continent's largest and a World Heritage Site with almost 2,000 historical buildings.
Explore Vilnius' surroundings by going to Trakai (Trakai Island Castle Museum & Church of Nativity of Most Holy Mother of God). There's still lots to do: examine the collection at KGB Museum (Genocido Auku Muziejus), take your sightseeing to a higher altitude at Hill of Three Crosses, get engrossed in the history at Gediminas Castle Tower, and wander the streets of Uzupis.

Šiauliai is the fourth largest city in Lithuania, with a population of 133,900. Explore Siauliai's surroundings by going to Birzai (Rinkuskiai Brewery, Birzai Regional Park, &more) and Panevezys (Panevezio Krastotyros Muziejus & Senvage). The adventure continues: make a trip to Kryziu Kalnas, see the interesting displays at Photography Museum, look for gifts at Akropolis, and take in the architecture and atmosphere at St. George's Church.

Plateliai is a town in Samogitia, Lithuania. Start off your visit on the 3rd (Tue): admire the masterpieces at Orvydai Homestead, admire the masterpieces at Plunge Manor, then learn about all things military at Cold War Museum, and finally step off the mainland to explore Zemaitija Park Forest.
