Athens, Greece to Kigali is an approximately 12.5-hour flight. You can also drive. Prepare for little chillier weather when traveling from Athens in August: high temperatures in Kigali hover around 32°C and lows are around 20°C. Finish up your sightseeing early on the 20th (Fri) so you can go by car to Ruhengeri.

Most tourism in Ruhengeri revolves around the famous national park, which shelters mountain gorillas of the volcanic Virunga range.

On the 21st (Sat), explore the wealth of natural beauty at Volcanoes National Park and then contemplate the waterfront views at Lake Burera and Lake Ruhondo. On the 22nd (Sun), you'll have a packed day of sightseeing: add some adventure to your tour with a kayaking and canoeing tour, then don't miss a visit to Karisoke Research Center - Dian Fossey Camp, and then steep yourself in history at Iby'iwacu Cultural Village.

Prepare for little chillier weather when traveling from Kigali in August: high temperatures in Ruhengeri hover around 26°C and lows are around 17°C. Wrap up your sightseeing on the 22nd (Sun) early enough to drive to Kibuye.

Kibuye is a city in Karongi District, and the headquarters of the Western Province in Rwanda.LocationThe city lies on the eastern shores of Lake Kivu, between Gisenyi and Cyangugu, approximately 135km, by road, west of Kigali, the capital and largest city in the country. On the 23rd (Mon), don't miss a visit to Bisesero Genocide Memorial, explore the activities along Lake Kivu, and then get curious at Museum of Environment. Get ready for a full day of sightseeing on the next day: take in the dramatic scenery at Les Chutes de Ndaba.

Drive from Ruhengeri to Kibuye in 3 hours. Expect a daytime high around 28°C in August, and nighttime lows around 19°C. On the 24th (Tue), wrap the sightseeing up by early afternoon so you can drive to Huye.

Getting from Kibuye to Huye by car takes about 3.5 hours. Finish up your sightseeing early on the 28th (Sat) so you can go by car to Eastern Province.

Eastern Province is the largest, the most populous and the least densely populated of Rwanda's five provinces. On the 29th (Sun), admire the sheer force of Rusumo Falls.

Drive from Huye to Eastern Province in 4 hours. Alternatively, you can do a combination of bus and car. In August, daily temperatures in Eastern Province can reach 32°C, while at night they dip to 20°C. You'll set off for home on the 31st (Tue).
