Fira, the busy capital of Santorini, sits on the very edge of a volcanic caldera.
Start off your visit on the 4th (Tue): enjoy the sea views from Akrotiri LightHouse, then enjoy the sand and surf at Red Beach, then explore the ancient world of Akrotiri, and finally examine the collection at Wine Museum Koutsogiannopoulos. When traveling from Fira in January, plan for somewhat warmer days and little chillier nights in Marrakech: temperatures range from 22°C by day to 6°C at night. Cap off your sightseeing on the 9th (Sun) early enough to catch the flight to Lagos.

Lagos, Portugal — 2 nights

The allure of the beaches and the town's historical center draw visitors to Lagos, a coastal destination in the Barlavento region of the Algarve.
You'll find plenty of places to visit near Lagos: Praia da Marinha (in Caramujeira), Praia Da Rocha (in Praia da Rocha) and Faro (Old Town Faro & Far-Eco Tuk). Traveling from Marrakech in January, you will find days in Lagos are a bit cooler (19°C), and nights are about the same (9°C). Wrap up your sightseeing on the 11th (Tue) early enough to travel to Zermatt.
