Antigua — 5 nights

The former capital of Guatemala and a World Heritage Site, Antigua retains its colonial charm and remains one of the most visited destinations in the country.
Iglesia de La Merced and Convento de las Capuchinas will appeal to history buffs. Do some cultural sightseeing at Caoba Farms and Centro Cultural La Azotea. You'll find plenty of places to visit near Antigua: Guatemala City (Catedral Metropolitana, Museo Ixchel del Traje Indigena, &more). There's still lots to do: examine the collection at Museo Casa del Tejido Antiguo, explore the ancient world of La Recoleccion, get engrossed in the history at Casa Santo Domingo Museums, and make a trip to San Jose El Viejo.

An island town, capital of the landlocked region of Peten, attractive Flores features pleasant architecture that complements the shimmering appearance of the surrounding lake.
Your cultural itinerary includes sights like Parque arqueologico uaxactun and Cultural Triangle Yaxha-Nakum-Naranjo National Park. Step off the beaten path and head to Ixpanpajul Nature Park and Cerro Biotope Cahui. There's much more to do: have fun at Reyes Tikal, take in the architecture and atmosphere at Catedral de Flores, and don't miss a visit to Jorge's Rope Swing.

Quetzaltenango — 2 nights

Named for the Quetzal bird--one of Guatemala's national symbols--Quetzaltenango once included the territories controlled by K'iche' Mayans, a pre-Columbian tribe eventually supplanted by Spanish conquistadores.
Your day by day itinerary now includes Museo Casa Botran as well as Museo Ixkik' del Traje Maya. On the 7th (Tue), examine the collection at Museo Ixkik' del Traje Maya, pause for some photo ops at Teatro Municipal de Quetzaltenango, stop by Chocolate Dona Pancha, then take an in-depth tour of Museo Casa Botran, and finally relax and rejuvenate at Natura Spa Xela. Keep things going the next day: take in the architecture and atmosphere at San Andres Xecul, then take in the architecture and atmosphere at Iglesia de San Andres de Xecul, then pause for some serene contemplation at La Ermita de la Concepcion (La Conquistadora), and finally examine the collection at Museo del Ferrocarril de los Altos.
