Sitting astride the Ljubljanica River, Ljubljana is marked with picturesque bridges and a marketplace, designed by the famous architect Jože Plečnik.
Cathedral of St. Nicholas and Ljubljana Old Town are good opportunities to explore the local culture. Step off the beaten path and head to Room Escape Games and Tivoli Park. Venture out of the city with trips to Vintgar Gorge (in Zgornje Gorje), Postojna (Predjama Castle & Postojna Cave) and Bled (Lake Bled & Bled Castle). Piran — 1 night

Considered one of the prettiest cities on the country's coast, Piran owes much of its development to salt.
Kick off your visit on the 6th (Sat): don't miss a visit to Tartini Square, contemplate in the serene atmosphere at St. George's Church, examine the collection at Sergej Mašera Maritime Museum, then pause for some serene contemplation at Koper Cathedral and Bell Tower, and finally make a trip to Walls of Piran. On your second day here, take in the architecture and atmosphere at Hrastovlje Church of the Holy Trinity, learn about winemaking at Vinakoper, and then admire the landmark architecture of Praetorian Palace.

Drive from Ljubljana to Piran in 1.5 hours. Alternatively, you can take a bus; or do a combination of train and bus. Traveling from Ljubljana in May, plan for a bit warmer nights in Piran, with lows around 13°C. Wrap up your sightseeing on the 7th (Sun) early enough to drive to Divača.

You can drive from Piran to Divača in an hour. Alternatively, you can take a bus; or do a combination of bus and train. In May, daily temperatures in Divača can reach 26°C, while at night they dip to 13°C. You will leave for Bovec on the 8th (Mon).
