A vibrant university city, Heidelberg is nestled in the picturesque Neckar river valley.Family-friendly places like Schloss Heidelberg and Mercedes-Benz Museum will thrill your kids. You'll find plenty of places to visit near Heidelberg: Baden-Baden (MerkurBergbahn, Lichtentaler Allee, &more) and Stuttgart (Wilhelma Zoologisch-Botanischer Garten, Teehaus, Weissenburg Park, &more). Valletta, Malta to Heidelberg is an approximately 5.5-hour flight. You can also do a combination of bus and train; or take a bus. In August, Heidelberg is little chillier than Valletta - with highs of 29°C and lows of 17°C. Finish up your sightseeing early on the 11th (Thu) so you can go by car to Gengenbach.

Gengenbach is a town in the district of Ortenau, Baden-Württemberg, Germany and a popular tourist destination on the western edge of the Black Forest with about 11,000 inhabitants. Kids will appreciate attractions like Europa-Park and Freiburger Münster.
