The rainforest meets the sea at Manuel Antonio National Park, a small but scenic natural preserve on the west coast of Costa Rica.
You'll enjoy a bit of beach vacationing at Playa Manuel Antonio and Playas Gemelas. Discover out-of-the-way places like Snorkel Adventure CR and Playa Espadilla Norte. Go for a jaunt from Manuel Antonio to Parrita to see Palo Seco Beach about 1h 5 min away. There's still lots to do: tour the pleasant surroundings at La Playita, relax and rejuvenate at some of the best spas, stroll around Parque Nahomi, and surround yourself with nature on a nature and wildlife tour.

Chicago, USA to Manuel Antonio is an approximately 12.5-hour flight. You can also drive. Finish your sightseeing early on the 15th (Wed) so you can ride a ferry to Santa Teresa.

Santa Teresa — 3 nights

A coastal getaway popular with surfers and young travelers, Santa Teresa spreads out from the beach and the main coastal road to a ring of newer developments on the surrounding hills.
Relax by the water at Playa Santa Teresa and Playa Hermosa. You'll discover tucked-away gems like Costa Rican Tropical Tours and Kayaking & Canoeing. Change things up with a short trip to Montezuma Falls in Montezuma (about 42 minutes away). There's still lots to do: kick back and relax at Playa Carmen and explore the galleries of Bri'ah Art Gallery.

Getting from Manuel Antonio to Santa Teresa by ferry takes about 5 hours. Other options: do a combination of bus and ferry; or drive. Wrap up your sightseeing on the 18th (Sat) to allow time to travel back home.
