Step into the life of William the Silent and view paintings from the Dutch Golden Age at Museum Prinsenhof Delft. The 16th-century Dutch Prince of Orange made his home at the complex, originally built as a monastery in the Middle Ages. Today the urban palace houses a municipal museum displaying a collection of Dutch Golden Age paintings. Tour the museum with a guide or headset, and view exhibits on Delftware imitation porcelain, famous Delft residents, and William the Silent. See where his assassination took place; you'll see the bullet holes still visible in the walls. • Small museum but really interesting exhibits on William of Orange and silverware (surprising to me as I’m usually not into the latter usually). All translated into English. I’m glad the ticket lady...

  • Beautiful museum, which gives a great summary of art and artists from Delft. Very interesting history of King Willem of Orange, in a building that him and his family once occupied. The history of the building itself is also varied and fascinating. A definite must-see for art & history lovers. Staff are also friendly & facilities are clean and neat.
  • Beautifully curated, small museum dedicated to the founding father of the Netherlands and not only! Entry is possible without prior scheduling, and the Museumkaart is accepted. There is also locker storage for belongings, free audio guides in both English and Dutch and a nice little coffee corner to enjoy a break. The museum features many pieces centered around William the Silent and his revolution against the austere Spanish rule and suppression of protestants, along with other exemplary pieces, usually tied to the city of Delft in some form or another. There is also a beautiful flower garden with a statue of Willem in the courtyard of the old monastery which houses the museum. A visit is recommended, especially if you're interested in the Dutch royal family and the history of Delft.
