Take a few moments out of your tour of the city to rest at Parque del Retiro, noted for its marble monuments, elegant buildings, abundant greenery, and landscaped lawns. Laid out in the 17th century, the park was originally meant to be a secluded space for kings and queens. Opened to the public in 1868, this site is an ideal place for a leisurely stroll, relaxing picnic, or an entertaining boat ride around the artificial lake, the focal point of the park. Art exhibitions and live music performances are frequently held here on the weekends, drawing hundreds of curious visitors from around the country. If you prefer a bit of peace and quiet, you can always find a lush secret corner far away from the noisy crowds. Just a regular city park. Probably good to spend hour or two if you have nothing to do or just tired of museums and cultural activities... If you have very limited timing in Madrid, skip it for sure.

Beautiful park especially on a sunny day. We enjoyed strolling through this park and taking in green spaces with many interesting monuments.

One of the most beautiful parks I have been to! Very big, green and well maintained. It has a rose garden, big lake where you could ride a boat and many other things to see! Great place for walk and relaxation! It feels amazing in the summer and spring!😊 I would visit again!

A vast, beautiful open-air free park that is a must-visit place in Madrid. There are dozens of different locations inside the park itself which in itself are worth visiting. Out of these places I greatly recommend trying the boats in the lake - great fun, especially with friends. The Cecilio Rodriguez gardens and the Crystal Palace are also great locations for some stunning pictures. Be prepared to spend more than a few hours in the park. I’d even recommend spending a whole day in it, absolutely worth it.
