Towering over Jounieh Bay, Churches of Harissa remain a popular pilgrimage spot. Known for the shrine dedicated to Our Lady of Lebanon, the patron saint of the country, Christians and Muslims alike flock to the scenic hilltop village to pay their respects to the Virgin Mary, whose likeness is immortalized in a massive, 8.5 m (28 ft) tall bronze statue that sits on top of the revered shrine. You can reach the village by car, or take a cable car ride, enjoying panoramic views of the bay along the way. A Maronite Christian cathedral stands adjacent to the shrine, while a number of other churches are located nearby, including a Greek Melkite basilica.
