Beirut Souks is known for shopping, dining, and mixed-media entertainment, but also take time to explore the contemporary architecture and urban design in this central commercial district. Rebuilt in the early 1990s, in the same place that major souks had operated before their destruction in the Lebanese civil war, the region contains vast vaulted arcades and interconnected alleys and courtyards, with a respectful eye to conserving archaeological findings and surviving historical architecture.
