Famed as the real-life setting of the classic memoir "Out of Africa," Karen Blixen Museum stands frozen in time, a monument to the life and times of the late author. Danish author Karen Blixen lived here from 1913 to 1931, running the property as a vast coffee plantation, from which she took inspiration for her writing upon returning to Denmark. Delve into Blixen's life and times with a guided tour of the house, where many of the rooms feature original decor and props from the book's 1985 movie adaptation. • Visited the Karen Blixen museum with friends. Learned about the history of the property and Karen's life. The grounds were beautiful and the tour of the home/museum was very interesting.

  • As a fan of Karen Blixen's classic memoir, "Out of Africa," I was thrilled to visit the Karen Blixen Museum in Nairobi. The museum is set in the beautiful farmhouse where Blixen lived and worked...

  • The guide Alan did a fantastic job in telling the history and story of Karen. The home has been kept in very good condition. Great place to come with young children ad the grounds has enough space to run around. Coffee shop is being opened soon, although we didn't know if it's by private company or the museum it self.
  • It was quite a pleasant surprise. Compared to other tourist places, the exhibition and its surroundings are much better maintained. The guide was extremely informative, he knew everything about the place and its inhabitants. It really made me want to re-read the book.
