St Mark's Campanile
Overlooking the city's famous lagoon, St Mark's Campanile is one of the Venice's most recognizable symbols. Originally constructed as a lighthouse, this 99 m (323 ft) tall bell tower stands alone in one corner of St. Mark's Square. The tower's simple form has a fluted brick shaft topped by a belfry housing five bells. A pyramidal spire with a golden weathervane in the form of the archangel Gabriel caps the tower. Constructed in the ninth century on ancient Roman foundations, the bell tower underwent a massive reconstruction after a sudden collapse in 1902. Once the site of Galileo's observatory, the tower now features an elevator for easy access to the top and views of the lagoon and distant Alps. We’d tried to book a trip to the top of the Campanile but lots of websites said it was still closed so took a chance and once there, joined the queue. It didn’t take long and for only 10€ each, once..... more

We payed 10€ each, but it was worth it for sure. The view from up there is amazing! The queue was quite long but it moves fast. Remember to bring mask.

Amazing 360 views across Venice! We got lucky and went when it was quiet (March) but can only imagine the ques for this in peak season. You can spend as little or as long as you like when you reach the top. Recommended!

We didn't plan to visit this tower while in Venice. However, when we passed by the door, there was no line and so we figured why not. For 10 euros, the full panoramic view was beautiful. There are many other (cheaper) towers or high points you can visit while in Venice, but if you have the money, why not? Also, the tower uses an elevator, so is accessible friendly.
