Create an itinerary including San Giorgio Maggiore
You access San Giorgio Maggiore, a 16th-century Benedictine church, by boat. As you approach the island, notice how the structure's white marble facade contrasts with the blue of the lagoon. Enter to discover its equally bright interior. Admire several paintings by Venice-born Renaissance artist Tintoretto, as well as many other religious artworks. You can take the elevator up to the bell tower for a small fee to discover views of the Venetian Lagoon. • It’s a beautiful church which is free to enter and the Campanile offers great views at just €7. There is also a beautiful maze garden you can go in at an extra cost.

  • This is often overshadowed by San Marco but in my opinion this is just as amazing as its more popular neighbour across the grand canal. Totally worth visiting for sure and admiring the views of the...

  • Gorgeous place and the view on Venice is absolutely breathtaking! Definitely recommend to visit. There weren't many people during my visit so it's a nice refuge from the hectic centre of Venice.
  • The island and church of San Giorgio are a beautiful and quieter refuge from busy San Marco. It is an easy vaporetto ride from San Marco. Worth a walk around the island and church, which is one of the most beautiful in Venice, and there is a great view of San Marco and the doge’s palace from the island.
