Soaked in history and filled with art, Palazzo Reale Di Torino was once the hub of the city’s political power. Together with the surrounding buildings, this palace formed a regional command center for the powerful House of Savoy. Originally built in the 16th century, the opulent palace was further expanded and modified in the 17th century. Renowned architect Filippo Juvarra was hired by Victor Amadeus, the head of the Savoy dynasty, to modernize the palace up to 17th-century standards. The architect’s most famous addition was a grand staircase. Later, Claudio Francesco Beaumont, a distinguished artist who was the dynasty’s official painter, embellished many of the palace’s chambers. Today, the palace offers visitors a chance to glimpse the grandeur in which the European aristocracy once lived and worked. Be sure to visit the on-site museum, with a historic armory displaying a vast collection of old weapons. • Maybe I've had bad luck because of the garden event the same day. But nevertheless I wouldn't recomend this. The organisation is a joke and what you can see has not the level of what you can see...

  • The royal palace showcases beautiful staircases, ornate official rooms and many exquisite decorative items. A temporary exhibit makes the place less formal, but still impressive.

  • One of the highlights and must see places in Turin. The Royal rooms are extravagant and contain all original furniture, art and decor. It's different from other Royal room footprints in that the rooms are not always linear. Just when you think the tour ends you round a corner and find other significant rooms. Of particular interest is the direct access to the chapel that has the Shroud of Jesus encased in the alter. A moving and memorable experience.
  • A step back through time as one tours the palace and sees artifacts held by the royal Savoy family. The collections of art and figurines allows one's mind to transcend back to the 1600s and forward. The armory was fascinating as it shows the progression of armor as well as the various designs coming from one region to another. The formal dining room is enchanting with all the crystal and the ballroom holds energy just waiting for its next gathering. I really enjoyed this glimpse into the past and the artwork is just amazing.
