Trip Planner: Europe / Italy / Campania / Province of Salerno / Amalfi Coast / Positano / Cave of Smeraldo
Cave of Smeraldo is known for the iridescent emerald light that covers the walls of the cave. A combination of geological events creates the captivating effect. The only direct opening to outside light is beneath the water. When daylight shines through, the green color appears on the cave walls. You can easily reach the cave via car by taking the ss163 highway from Capri. A small fee provides access to the cave via elevator, while a rowboat manned by a singing tour guide will take you into the grotto's interior. Cave of Smeraldo is just one of the many highlights you can arrange to see using our , custom trip planner Edition.

Relatively small cave with 3 boats with up to 15-20 people at the same time, but we had fun and everyone had a good time. Tour takes ~20 min.

It's OK, but very gimmicky. I was expecting a to go out into the open water and be taken to it, but you are just loaded into a small floating vessel (definitely not a boat). It is easy to get to, stairs and a lift and the blue colours are lovely. But if you've been into any caves before, St Micheal’s in Gibraltar for example then it's not worth it. Children might like it as it's something different. It was €7 euros and again like most of these attractions you can end up paying double as they are always asking for a tip 😏 I haven't got a problem with tipping for good reason and service but for a 15 minutes it just wasn't our thing.
Really nice location, the cave is actually pretty nice. When you go you have to pay 8 euros and you will yo with a little boat and a guide. The guide is not that professional probably because it’s repeating the same things 100 times for day. He’s trying to say it both in Italian and English but mmm no. Usually there is line. To go down and up to the cave there is an elevator. There is also a stop of the bus in front.
