Create an itinerary including Galleria Borbonica
Walk the underground tunnels at Galleria Borbonica, which that once connected a royal palace to army barracks and served as a bomb shelter during World War II. In the 16th century, 300 years before Bourbon king Ferdinand II decided to build a military underground passage, the tunnel housed water tanks for the city. You can still see the tanks, along with vintage cars, motorcycles, and fascist statues that were thrown away. One of the three available tours includes a raft ride in an abandoned subway tunnel filled with water. • We did not arrive in time due to a demonstration that blocked the streets, but we were able to reschedule or get a refund.

  • Wonderful guided tours through the long history of Naples underground. A cool 18c all year round, compared to 30c in the city today. Sabrina, our guide was excellent, informative and enthusiastic and speaks perfect English. There is also a shop selling historic items. Highly recommended
  • Excellent tour of the Borbon tunnels which was enjoyed by all the family. Our tour guide on the standard tour, Alexandra, was very engaging and knowledgeable of the fascinating history of the tunnels, and her English was excellent. Visited on Saturday, bought tickets on arrival at the entrance, and only had to wait a couple of minutes for the tour to start. A further bonus was it was an hour and a quarter in the cool depths out of sun! Highly recommended.
