  • Beautiful corner of Marciana Marina, well cared for by the locals, offers an enchanting moment of rest. The name, as a sign at the beginning of the road that crosses the village recalls, derives from the local dialect, where COTE is the rock, therefore COTONE means GREAT SCOGLIO (even if it is assumed a much older derivation, even Etruscan ... ). The well-kept houses adorned with plants and flowers, painted in bright colors, the view of the town and the sea make it something precious to be admired absolutely.
  • Suggestive ancient fishing village, Located to the right of Marciana Marina, which by the way is the smallest town on Elba. And nearby the series of CRIMES OF THE BAR LUME is filmed. Marciana Marina is the penultimate Tuscan town in order of size and its extension is just 5.75 square kilometers. But following the ancient adage that attributes an exclusive preciousness to small things, it is easy to understand how, over the centuries, the beauty and territorial value of this marina have seduced such a large number of peoples. Etruscans, Romans, Pisans, Ligurians, French, and many others have alternated over time, outlining the foundations of what is now a picturesque and delightful tourist resort with characteristic multicolored houses, reflected in a turquoise sea. The sixteenth-century Tore de la Marina, symbol of the town, stands proudly in greeting to the sails and along the narrow streets, typically paved with gravel, numerous shops and cafes overlook. But it is to the right of the seafront that Marciana Marina offers its best side. A tiny natural inlet, protected by a large granite rock and an agglomeration of houses and ladders, where the ancient guzzi are still dried by hand and the clothes hanging through the alleys from window to window: Borgo al Cotone. Recent studies have identified an Etruscan root in the origin of the so unusual name (from the Cothu family, who had their lands there), but it is from the sixteenth century that the village began to take shape, so much so that the city council decided to equip it with a defense tower, now incorporated into the residential structures but still clearly visible from the promenade and the sea. Subsequently and until the mid-nineteenth century, the whole neighborhood became part of the Sanità, thanks to the healthy and iodine-laden winds that blow here all year round ... more or less gently. And in fact, Borgo al Cotone is always a marvel, from January to December, with the sun or with the clouds. During the Christmas period, adorned with lights and small nativity scenes, it envelops itself in an enchanted atmosphere, typical of precious things: arriving from the sea towards Marciana Marina one has the impression of seeing a tiara of brilliant stones, and on the left, a luminous jewel , colorful, lapped by transparent waters and surrounded by seagulls.
