At the top of a grassy knoll, Castello di Fenis features limestone watchtowers that rise high above the countryside. An opulent residence for the Challant family in medieval times, the pentagonal castle is now a museum run by the Aosta Valley autonomous region. Once inside the double boundary wall, you'll enter the ground floor to see the kitchen, woodshed, rainwater storage tank, and a display of medieval weaponry. Climb the stairs to the first floor to explore the lords' rooms and the chapel, where you'll find Giacomo Jacquerio's majestic frescoes. Guided tours are only in Italian, but informative pamphlets are available in other languages. Before you visit Fenis, use our trip planner to discover what you can do and see there.

First of all, come in early, it opens at 9h00. Reason for that is that groups of 30 people are going in every 15 minutes, but since its popular , you might arrive at the entrance at10 and be said...

Honestly one of the best castles we've ever been to, including about 100 in England. Amazing furniture, frescoes, rooms, signage and the building itself is gorgeous. The crowning glory though is the courtyard, what a beauty it is!

Beautiful place. We have arrived in here 4 adults and a toddler. Drove long, paid for car park… Unfortunately, the only possibility to see the castle in the inside is with Tour guide who speaks only Italian. The tours and not all the time, you have to wait for the next tour with others. For tourist who does not understand Italian there is no point to get here😞
