Discover Bali's spiritual side by visiting Uluwatu Temple, offering some of the finest ocean views on the island. One of six holiest shrines in Bali, this structure sits on the edge of rocky cliffs rising dramatically over the sea's foaming waves. Much of the current shrine probably dates back to the 11th century, when a Javanese sage expanded and improved a preexisting but much smaller structure. A band of monkeys inhabits the temple--watch out they don't snatch your purse or other belongings. Though non-Hindu visitors cannot enter the inner temple, they're free to hike around the area. For travelers who use our online itinerary creator, Pecatu holidays become easier to arrange, with trips to the Uluwatu Temple and other attractions mapped out and timetabled.

Nice view of coast. There are a lot of monkeys in the temple. Be careful of your belongings. Not necessary for a guide to chase the monkeys.

It's a beautiful place....ever so romantic...if by any chance you can have the place to yourself...or with very less visitors....but that's very unlikely to happen...and the 🐒s were very cool with the visitors too...!!! The place itself, as you can clearly feel is truly a temple....!! Although, too bad we weren't allowed to go inside the main temple....but that's just plain restricted!!

Absolutely beautiful view at the cliffs. The waves crashing onto the shores and rocks is simply blissful. You have to be extremely careful of the monkeys as they're very used to humans and are clever to snatch things including phones and sunglasses usually in exchange for food.
