Explore one of the most important centers of the Mayan civilization at Tikal. Declared a World Heritage Site in 1979, the ancient Mayan city was inhabited from 6th century BC to the 10th century. On a tour of the park, you can view thousands of ancient ruins sprawled across the verdant jungle. Hike the tropical forest trails in between the grand ruins. In addition to culture, pay attention to the natural gems here too--you'll pass through a canopy of lush green trees inhabited by howler monkeys, toucans, coatimundis, and other jungle creatures. • I could've easily spent the entire day here (and I wish I had!) I had no idea how large Tikal actually was. It was a lifesaver to take the truck up to the temple, saving a long uphill walk because...

  • A unique and amazing place. During the tour, you can learn about the history of the Maya civilization and a lot of interesting facts. Much less tourists than in other places of this type. In addition, the possibility of climbing to the top of one of the pyramids is a big plus.
  • Beautiful national park. Recommend going with a guide since there are no signs with history facts or explanations. Being a rain jacket, snacks and water. Plenty of restrooms all around the park. Animals were around end of September.
