    The hike to the mirador is easy i.e. not short and no altitude challenges but looking at an active volcano puffing is priceless. Can be done independently as well with some little help from bus...

    Getting away and in touch with nature. Awesome hike. It'd be better NOT to have to go through a literal dumpster to get here. More or some directions wouldn't hurt.

    I hiked this overnight with a guide and three others in 2009. We camped on a high spot adjacent to the active peak. It was amazing watching and hearing the large ash eruptions and being close enough that ash is falling on you. At night and in the predawn, you could see large glowing orange rocks tumbling down the sides of the volcano. This was in February so everything was very very dry and enjoyable. Didn’t see any other people on the entire trip.
