Create an itinerary including Lago de Atitlan
Set against three volcanoes jutting up from its southern shore, Lago de Atitlan represents the deepest body of water in Central America. The basin of the lake comes from volcanic origins, with its waters filling a large caldera. The villages and towns that surround the lake remain the preserve of the indigenous Maya people, and their authentically rustic atmosphere and charm complement the look and feel of the natural wonder. Swim, kayak, cliff-jump, or rent a boat for the day and glide across the water to visit the villages. • I have travelled much of the world and this was a highlight for me. Beautiful beyond words. Don't just do a quick day trip trying to cover as much as possible. I spent a good 4 to 5 days...

  • Our favorite vacation spot! We visited here 4 times and we’ll be back again soon. Gorgeous volcanoes, amazing people, beautiful natural beauty. Boats take you anywhere around the lake, the little...

  • Lake Atitlan is beautiful, and there’s plenty to do. Panajachel is a good landing point, and seems to be the main hub for catching a boat across the lake. San Pedro is where you’ll find bars and parties, whereas next door San Juan is quieter and filled with coffee and art. The views are spectacular no matter where you are on the lake 🙂 I recommend hopping from town to town to see everything this area has to offer.
  • Similar vibes to lake Como in Italy. Boat rides from town to town. Stronger winds in the evening. Beautiful place.
