Take in the history and architecture at Guatemala City's crowning landmark, Palacio Nacional. The dictatorial government of Jose Ubico built this former presidential palace in the early 1940s, designed in a mix of styles ranging from Spanish Renaissance to Neoclassical. Over the decades it has seen earthquakes and government coups; today it is open for public viewing as a museum. Take a guided tour of the building to learn about its rich history and observe the ornate decor, paintings, and murals that grace the interior. Palacio Nacional is just one of the many highlights you can arrange to see using our , online itinerary creator Edition.

  • Jorge Ubico was a mastermind in taste! This build was incredible! Still stands, one of the countries greatest built buildings!
  • Beautiful palace with interesting history. It’s only possible to visit with a guided tour which was less than an hour long. Worth coming inside when in Guatemala City. We particularly liked the murals depicting the indigenous Guatemalans & the Spanish. Also the stained glass was absolutely beautiful!
