Museo Ixchel del Traje Indigena
Admire an elaborate display of indigenous Guatemalan clothing and textiles at Museo Ixchel del Traje Indigena. The museum features an impressive collection of different hand-woven fabrics originating from 120 highland villages, some of which date back to the 19th century. Also on display are various sculptures, photographs, and paintings, including works by Andres Curruchich, a prominent Guatemalan folk painter. Understand how the fabrics are made through interactive weaving displays and educational videos. Take a break at the cafe, then browse for souvenirs at the bookstore and gift shop. I love going to museums, especially when it’s about a different culture that I am from 😊 the museum is not that big but it’s definitely worth going! You can see so many interesting things, such as traditional clothes that was worn back in the day, pottery, paintings, etc. They also have a small souvenir shop in the museum, which had very reasonable prices. Staff was super friendly and willing to help whenever we asked questions.

Excellent. The presentation of the collections is breathtaking. Photos are of the open public areas. Photos allowed in rooms 2-6 if I remember the rules...all material is in English and Spanish. Beautiful and tells a great and important story.
