  • Great tour and bracelet making class. Instructors are very patient and speak great English. Learned a lot about textiles from all over Guatemala. Highly recommend if you’re in the nearby Antigua area.

  • It’s a perfect place to get to know about textiles of Mayan community. I was explained well in English by Danilo(guide). To get the place, take a chicken bus from bus terminal and ask for San Antonino(Q5). The museum is right side of on the way.
  • When I visited Antigua, I got fascinated with the beautiful Mayan textiles that are commonly seen throughout Guatemala, so I figured this museum would be a good spot to get my 101. I initially took a tour with Danilo where he introduced their collection of various textile objects from different regions and explained the local culture in detail. I liked it so much that I decided to go back and take their tejido class. Since I was also taking Spanish classes in Antigua at the time, juggling between multiple classes and activities was a challenge for me. Good thing they’re super flexible and accommodating! After 5 hours of hands-on weaving, I managed to finish my very own piece of hand weaved textile that I can bring home and brag about. My teacher Estelle is super patient and talented. She stayed by my side the whole time to guide me and help fix my mistakes. I’m convinced she must have laser eyes. After the class I definitely got a deeper appreciation to their weaving techniques and will never underestimate the complexity of such craft.
