New Athos Cave was known for many years simply as "bottomless pit." At approximately 1,000,000 cubic m (35,314,667 cubic ft), this cave system is a must for professional and amateur speleologists alike. The caves are made up of nine enormous chambers, each containing geological features including underground rivers and lakes, large stalactites and stalagmites, seemingly bottomless ravines, waterfalls, and oddly shaped deposits. For the protection and preservation of the cave, you'll use a railway that takes you to three stops, where you can get out and travel along walkways to take in the sights. This is a very large cave with plenty of interesting stalactites and stalagmites to see inside. Entrance fee is 500 RUB but that includes the train ride in and out. You'll be forced to join a Russian.... more
