Explore the area that Costa Ricans call 'the lungs of San Jose' during a visit to Parque La Sabana, a large metropolitan park. The 72 ha (177 acre) park is known as the home of the country's national soccer stadium, as well as many other sports facilities, including running and skating tracks, and soccer fields. Formerly the site of the country's main airport, the terminal building still stands, although it has now been converted into the national art gallery. Take a stroll around the artificial lake and through the wooded areas, spotting native plant life and birds. Make your San Jose itinerary with Inspirock to find out what to see and where to go.

  • This is a large park frequented on weekends by the local community. It seems to have seen better days and has been hurt by the recent drought. Not a must see but we stayed near here.

  • Dried out pond , closed public bathrooms guarded by the police. All together- very poorly maintained park. Not worth it at all .

  • This is a very nice place to go with family, friends, loved ones, and everyone in between! Entrance is free, and it is pet friendly - you're only encouraged to be careful with their behavior and dispose of their waste. Overall, very clean and in very good condition!
  • Do you need to feed the benches where we can sit at its dangerous to sit on the picnic table and other places as well but generally the park is a good trail to walk all around and it’s fun to have nature inside the city
