Experience the mellow atmosphere of Samara Beach, a stretch of white sand on Costa Rica's Pacific coast. Its calm, shallow waters make it a good place for swimming, and the presence of an extensive coral reef keeps the beach safe and suitable for all ages. Take a walk to appreciate the scenic ocean view, practice surfing, or rent a kayak and explore the small verdant island across the water. Off the beaten path and rarely crowded, the beach offers visitors a tranquil place to sunbathe, snorkel, or hang out. You can also check out the casual bars and restaurants here. • Not much sand but very well cleaned, horse back riding and canoe available. Sea weeds not at all a nuisance and really nice water to go for long swimming sessions.

  • Beautiful beach, very long. The northern portion is easier for swimming, in the southern portion waves are bigger and better for surfing.
  • This beach was a great find. It is pretty touristy so be warned if you are looking for a more local-like atmosphere. There are also those freelance parking guys walking around so you might have to pay a couple hundred colones to buy some peace. We ate at La Casita de Mr Wagner and it was delicious. We also drinks at the restaurant with beach access and blue umbrellas directly across from that food courts. My friend and I both agreed they were the best versions of each drink that we had ever had (mojito and piña colada). What a good place and pretty good location. We drove from Monteverde no problem.
