Rio Chollin
Maneuver around jagged rocks to find a spot at Rio Chollin. Because the hot springs are often crowded with tourists and locals (even in the late evening), be ready to hike a little upstream if you prefer a more peaceful, secluded spot. For those that want to swim at night, bring a flashlight, because there are no light sources here. If you plan to stay awhile, bring along drinks and snacks. Wear comfortable shoes, as the jagged rocks can be painful to walk on. Our La Fortuna de San Carlos visit planning website makes visiting Rio Chollin and other La Fortuna de San Carlos attractions simple, and helps you make a travel plan personal to you.

This is a wonderful place to visit. Entrance is free, but just be cautious. You will find guys asking to be paid to keep your car safe. Do it. Definitely recommend.

The Rio Chollin is legit! We've driven there twice and just soaked in the warm water as it pours over us. We parked on the side of the road and gave a few thousand colones to park. It's not a bad...

This is a jewel to visit in the Fortuna!! A hot water river with some waterfalls and little pools, some deep some shallow, perfect to have some relaxing time, free entrance. I recommend to go early in the morning to avoid the crowds and to find the best spot for you and your family. It's best if you bring with you only very few things in a small backpack that you can hang from a tree branch. Although many people find their way bringing a whole picnic basket. Remember to bring some water to keep yourself hydrated.

This was a phenomenal experience! We parked on the road right outside the entrance across the resort. We paid $5 to the gentleman who helped us. We arrived at 8:30 am on a Monday and we had the whole place pretty much to ourselves. At around 9 it started becoming busier. The water was pleasantly warm and relaxing and the experience of sitting on the warm river while surrounded by the beach trees was just magical. Highly recommend this!
