Create an itinerary including Arenal Volcano
Arenal Volcano attracts nature lovers and adventurers with its lush scenery and wide range of outdoor activities. Hike through the jungle and on a lava flow trail, across hanging bridges and up the slope of the dormant volcano. The first recorded eruption occurred in 1968, when lava and ashes destroyed three little towns on its west side. The last explosion happened at the end of 2010. In the absence of spewing lava, get your adrenaline pumping with some waterfall rappelling or ziplining. • Views from town and close up cannot be beaten. We could see it from every street in the neighborhood. We have been on sloth and frog tours on previous visits, it's always amazing

  • Julio was our guide and it was honestly worth the money for a guide. If Julio wasn’t there it would’ve been just a nice walk through the rainforest. He spotted so many animals and got us some great...

  • The view of the Arenal volcano is good. We got to see many animals and different plants and trees, and we have learned a lot about the volcano. The views of this volcano are absolutely stunning, when the clouds permit you to see it and easy trails to explore (about 6 km in total) that wind through the forest and provide some beautiful viewing points of the volcano. To really benefit, you need to go when the volcano is visible, one up to a view point of the volcano and lake Arenal you can go by car and the second view point you should walk 1:30 -2 hours and after that you can take the car to see the lake about 15 minutes away from the volcano and you should be aware because part of the road isn’t paved and there’s a ton of high bumps. Tickets $17 adults and $5 for kids Keep in mind. You don’t have to go to this park to see the volcano. It’s visIble from many points around the city.
  • Absolutely beautiful to see. The guided hike we did took 3-4 hours. We were under the impression that we would be able to climb the actual volcano, but you are only able to see it from a viewpoint. Not a super difficult hike, some stairs and elevation but overall pretty simple. Saw many beautiful plants during the hike through the jungle and a beautiful view of the volcano!! For sure worth seeing if visiting La Fortuna :)
