Create an itinerary including Valle De La Luna
With bizarre, spectacular rock formations created by erosion--and not a tree in sight--the twin valleys of Valle De La Luna feel like another world. Their names translate respectively as "Valley of the Moon" and "Valley of Death," fitting labels for such distinctive places. Let your imagination run wild as you traverse the moonscape terrain, but remember that the laws of gravity still apply. You can access the valleys by taking a tour from nearby San Pedro de Atacama. • Must visit place when in SPdA. You can rent a bike from the city and then bike here, its a short ride with good roads. The roads in the park are a bit bumpy and you’ll need to climb a bit, but its definitely worth the landscape views. We had to pay an entrance fee at the beginning, not sure anymore how much this was.
  • First I want to say the landscape is incredible. 5/5 and a must see especially since it's so close to San Pedro de Atacama. Book online in advance. Entry fee was 10,500 Chilean pesos per person. We drove our rental car to the destinations inside the park. The reason my rating is only 3/5 is the company running the park was frustrating. 4 of the 8 spots inside the park were closed. The only reason they seem closed was there were not staff to station at the spot? Why do you need staff at each spot anyway? None of the staff at the open spots said anything to us. They were just sitting in whatever sliver of shade was available. It seemed miserable and unnecessary for them. Wish the spots weren't closed.
