The staff were outstanding! There is a wide variety of exhibits, including a boat. We came here with our young children and while most of the museum was a bit beyond their interests, they had an amazing time. I loved it here when I was a kid, and you can still learn something new from the incredible guides every visit. I always recommend the fisheries museum to anyone looking for a day trip.

I am not very knowledgeable about ships or fishing, and don't go out of my way to learn about those topics. But this was a very enjoyable museum regardless. A little aquarium with some Atlantic sea creatures, an interesting exhibit about the Bluenose II, and museum tickets get you onto two boats docked in the harbour (if the Bluenose is in, check the schedule). Also chatted with the lovely ladies in the children's exhibit area, who taught us about natural clothing dye. Fascinating!
