Cape Breton Highlands National Park
Enjoy the outdoors with tranquil walks around picturesque mountains, scenic beaches, and the famed landscape of the highlands at Cape Breton Highlands National Park. You can go for a drive or a hike on one of many trails passing through the park, featuring ocean and mountain views from above. Observe the steep cliffs and river canyons winding through the forests near the Atlantic Ocean, with waterfalls and tundra-like plateaus also forming part of the scenery. You can also test your skills at an 18-hole golf course marked as the best public course in Canada. Wildlife in the area includes bears, birds, and whales, which can often be seen from the park’s coastal trails. Wear appropriate clothing, as the weather often gets cold and wet. Very nice park and worth seeing again (when the road is fixed). June was a good time to visit as fewer other visitors. Weather was good too, but could be variable.

Absolutely stunning. Over 20+ trails to choose from, easy to difficult and each trail is very difference. Lots of wildlife to observe during the right season, sea birds, eagles, hawks, bears, coyotes, moose, whales and fish. Absolutely must visit this beautiful national park.

This national park is amazing. Part of the famous Cabot Trail, it’s hard to miss since you have to, at the very least, drive through on the Cabot Trail. The variety of ocean, mountains and boreal forest is simply astounding. The trail heads and hiking trails are well marked. They provide a terrific map that classifies the trail difficulty and show great spots to stop. The very famous Skyline Trail is a MUST. It’s an easy trail, family friendly and beautifully marked and maintained. And, photos do not do justice to the views. In addition the Skyline Trail passes through boreal forest where a research project is underway examining the impact of the local moose population on the forest. Pick your trail and your vista and enjoy. And, the drive is a blast…bring your jeep, convertible or motorcycle.
