Step into Halifax Central Library, where the building draws as much attention as the books. Halifax's largest public library features a dramatic fifth-floor cantilever over the entrance plaza. Inside, take the crisscrossed staircases to access the large collection of books. Take a break from reading and buy a refreshment on the rooftop terrace cafe, one of two cafes on site. Kids can also enjoy the play area or one of the many games available. Check ahead for any events that may be on during your visit. • The support for the DIY projects is wonderful! There is always something fun going on at this library. Grab a latte from the coffee shop and enjoy the view from the rooftop cafe.

  • Great selection of books and videos (DVD's)! Super friendly staff and very quick and excellent service. The cafeteria with art expositions and nice little snacks, round the picture of a good, clean...

  • Beautifully designed building with 5 levels to explore, where I spend all my work from home days. The air conditioner and Wi-Fi, also the quiet setting, definitely makes it a great place for work and study in the hot summer.
  • Beautifully designed building! Centrally located with bright spaces for reading, studying, or planning your next activity. Frequently has free educational events scheduled that are open to the public. The top floor has a nice cafĂ©, a small rooftop patio space, and a reading room with great views. Worth visiting!
