Alexander Keith's Brewery
Learn about the beer and the man whose name adorns each bottle during a tour of Alexander Keith's Brewery, one of the oldest commercial breweries in North America. Founded in 1820 by Alexander Keith, a Scottish immigrant who would go on to become town mayor on three occasions, the brewery brews a range of beers, although its most popular remains the original India pale ale. Nice little tour! Takes about 50 minutes and includes 2.5 beers per person (stout sample, standard IPA, plus a free choice of whatever they have on tap). I wasn’t too interested in the history, but learned a couple nice things - you will likely feel rushed if that’s your goal here. There’s a fun basement bar portion with some live music by the tour guides. This was my favourite part and the performances were really lovely - won’t spoil any specifics! We went on Keith’s birthday (October 5) so it was free! Try to do that if you can make it happen!

Had a great time here. They have lots of history and the tour guides were very friendly. You get multiple free beers throughout the tour and get to listen to some talented singers. The only thing I didn’t love was that the content of the tour was very scripted and felt cringey at times, I felt it could be a bit more natural.
