Create an itinerary including Annapolis Royal Historic Gardens
Take things down a gear during a relaxing stroll through Annapolis Royal Historic Gardens. Established in 1986 in a scenic position overlooking a tidal river valley, the gardens explore Nova Scotia's natural heritage, as well as the changing ways that communities have tamed, used, and appreciated the plant life native to the region. Walk through the historically themed gardens, such as an apple orchard arranged according to 18th-century practices; a Victorian garden bright with colorful annuals; and a large pine forest, representing pre-Columbian times when the area was inhabited by the Mi'kmaq. Make Annapolis Royal Historic Gardens a centerpiece of your Annapolis Royal vacation itinerary, and find what else is worth visiting using our Annapolis Royal trip planner.

  • I don't really care about horticulture, but still had a great experience at the Annapolis Royal Historic Gardens. It's very well taken care of and well worth a visit. The little cafe is charming, too!

  • The garden is so beautiful. Lots of space to walk or sit. A very good place to visit and forget about the COVID situation our world currently faces.

  • This review is based upon a visit shortly before the pandemic, so take it as such. I am not a flowery kind of person and probably would have bypassed the Gardens if on my own. I enjoy trees, mountains and waterfalls quite a bit more. Im not anti flower, but not normally into them either. That's more my wife's thing. But in this case, one of our group is a landscaper and obviously has an interest in flowers. So we visited the gardens. I have to say that I was pleasantly surprised how much I did enjoy the arrangements and variety of the beautiful plants though out the gardens. I can say that I do plan on bringing the wife to see the beauty when things calm down and we take another trip to Nova Scotia. Well done.
  • Very nicely set up. For nice rose viewing go early in the season.
