Corcovado - Christ the Redeemer
An elegant 38-meter (125 ft) Art Deco statue constructed in 1931, Corcovado - Christ the Redeemer was once only accessible by climbing hundreds of steep steps to the top of the Corcovado Mountain. Today, visitors can access this instantly recognizable city symbol by using the convenient escalators and elevators. The viewing platform from the top offers panoramic views of Copacabana, Ipanema, Lagoa Rodrigo de Freitas, Botanical Garden, and the Maracana Stadium. Check the weather before starting your climb to the top, as thick clouds often envelop the peak and obscure the view. You can also reach the top on the funicular train, but remember that the lines can get rather long here. Try to time your visit for lunchtime, when there are fewer crowds and considerably shorter lines. Put Corcovado - Christ the Redeemer on your schedule, and learn what else deserves a visit by using our Rio de Janeiro trip maker website.

CHRIST the REDEEMER, I was saving these pictures to be able to post at this time. I always thought about the day that I would be able to see the CHRIST the REDEEMER. It was absolutely spectacular, I was not disappointed. For me, what was shocking, was how small the statue was. We could see it for miles and miles but when we actually got to go there we found out that it was only 30 meters tall. It always looks larger than life. The statue of Jesus Christ is at the summit of Mount Corcovado in Rio de Janeiro Brazil, it was built in 1931 and is known as the largest art deco style sculpture in the world. It was amazing and I’m so glad that we went at a off time because we got to see and meet people from all over the world experiencing this incredible statue. We experience such joy, people praying and taking in the feeling of being welcomed by his open arms. It literally reaches to heaven. When you get close so you can see lightning rods on the top of the arms and on the head of the statue. Back in 2007 Christ the Redeemer was chosen as one of the seven wonders of the modern world.

I visited when I went to Brazil about 5 years ago and enjoyed every second of it. Nice ride to the top on a van and the views are priceless. You can see topical green (plants with lush green leaves) everywhere. It is a must see attraction! Will update my photos at a later time!
