Pao de Acucar Peak offers a panoramic view of the region from 500 meters (1,600 ft) above the Mamanguá tropical fjord, the only one of its kinds in Brazil. You can access this rare view of unspoiled jungle and curving Brazilian coastline by climbing a trail through lush Atlantic rainforest, home to a number of native plant and animal species. The trail is not very steep and is suitable for hikers of all ages and levels of fitness. You can reach the top in about 90 minutes, but take care to bring plenty of water, a light snack, and a good camera, of course. Guided hiking trips are available from local tour operators.
