Church of Our Lady of Remedies
Construction on this beautiful Baroque church commenced in 1646 after the land was donated for the construction of Paraty. It would have been the oldest church you could visit in the town today had it not taken more than 220 years to complete. Instead, Church of Our Lady of Remedies will have to settle for being the largest, taking up an entire city block overlooking the lush Praça da Matriz. Inside, admire the handsome tiled floors, alcoves filled with local artwork, and a row of saint figures watching over the congregation.
