Constructed 1864 to carry passengers to Adelaide South Australia, it made 23 return voyages.
With a composite construction, it was the pinnacle of sailing ship design. Only 2 survive today, the younger being the Cutty Sark.
Recovered from Scotland after a 14 year campaign to save the vessel, the City of Adelaide arrived in Adelaide in February 2014.
The City of Adelaide carried immigrants from places such as England, Scotland, Cornwall, Ireland, Germany and Scandinavia.

While I wasn't able to take a tour, the volunteers are to be commended for the scale of work that they have done restoring this vessel Edit: Did the tour, totally worth it to see what a ship of this size was like and how it is being restored. The volunteers are doing an amazing job. Make the effort and have a look though. You won't be disappointed.

So much history in this clipper ship in the process of being restored by enthusiastic volunteers. The guided tour was interesting and informative. Highly recommended for anyone interested in the history of sailing ships and early South Australia.
