Escorial, San Martin de los Andes

Tread carefully across a river of solidified lava at Escorial. Created by a volcano eruption around 400 years ago, the lava trail spans 7.5 km (4.7 mi), flowing into Lake Epulafquen. Walk along the smooth path that has been laid on top of the lava flow, and look out at the expanse of once molten rock on either side of you. Wear appropriate footwear, such as hiking boots, if you do decide to step off the path to walk across the lava; the rough terrain could easily cause you to roll an ankle if you're not careful.
