Create an itinerary including Avenida Libertador
One of the city's main arteries, Avenida Libertador was built in 1885 to ease the rapidly growing center's congestion problems. The 7 km (4.5 mi) avenue connects the central Retiro station to Tigre in the north, via the desirable neighborhood of Palermo. Walk down the avenue at your own leisure, stopping along the way at one of many cafes and restaurants for refreshments. You can also find plenty of shops and travel agents along the street. For Avenida Libertador and beyond, use our El Calafate trip planner to get the most from your El Calafate vacation.
