Los Aleros, Merida

4.5
Wander through Los Aleros, an educational ethno village nestled in a picturesque Andean valley. Designed by Alexis Montilla in 1984, the complex looks like a traditional Andean village in the 1930s, with wooden homes, agricultural land, village stores and services, and staff wearing typical clothes from the time. Learn about the daily life of villagers by inspecting contraptions used in agriculture and housekeeping, and step inside a typical kitchen to see what's cooking. Try on some traditional threads and watch as the villagers entertain themselves, playing folk songs on old instruments. • Good family fun. Be prepared to walk steep stairs and grades if you want see most of the attractions. Don't expect a lot of handrails or handicap ramps. Slides are fun, just wear elbow pads! This is a half day affair unless your planning to spend a lot of money and get really drunk. A little history and a trip back in time, Disney-style. People are super nice and friendly. Fun and interesting place, we've been twice and will probably return.
  • I am doing landmarks of Venezuela in my class and I have been here!
