Coro
The oldest city in western Venezuela, Coro was founded in 1527 and possesses a rich, varied cultural heritage. Prized as the first settlement established by Spanish conquerors who colonized the continent's interior, Coro became the first capital of Venezuela Province, and then the first German colony in the Americas, known as Neu-Augsburg. A tour of Coro's attractions reveals this changing history of colonial firsts in museums, galleries, and architectural landmarks.
