Scone Palace, Perth

4.4
Must see · Architectural Building · Historic Site
Located on top of an ancient gathering place for the Pict people, Scone Palace still attracts visitors to its Georgian Gothic facade. Every king of Scotland up to Alexander III was crowned on this site, but the palace you'll see was rebuilt much later, in the 19th century. Wander the gardens surrounding the palace, where you'll find peacocks roaming, including a handful of albino males. These magnificent birds strut among the woodlands' 250-year-old fir trees, where the Game and Wildlife Conservation Trust's Scottish Game Fair is held every year. • Very interesting walk around the palace. There is also a restaurant and coffee shop. Both kept clean and tidy. The toilets are spotless. Vast grounds to walk around also they have Peacocks. Easy access and has a car park
  • The docents in each palace room were extremely knowledgeable and helped explain interesting aspects of Scones history and the history of it's family. There was also an amazing kids playground with a zip line and other fun things. I would take my kids here every weekend if I lived in Perth or surrounding area.
